Now that I got a DS I have to buy Tecmo Bowl Kickoff. When I do I will post my review on this forum. |

OK, so I went out and picked up Tecmo Bowl Kickoff today at my local Game Stop, and I started a season and I am three weeks in. There are a couple of changes from the original, but it is alot like the TSB that came out for the SNES. You can now block punts with frequency, and I actually missed an extra point! You can go for the two point conversion as well. The passing game is basically the same, with alot of the original plays from TSB in the play book, but what I have found so far is that there are a TON of interceptions. My second game I picked off five passes, it's like if you pass to an open man you are ok, but if he is covered it's an interception. You can edit your team name, logo and your players stats and names of course which is just awesome. Kickers and punters aren't as fast as they were in the original, and field goals are a little tougher(I missed a thirty yarder.) There are new cut scenes which are just beautiful and the halftime show has cheerleaders and a rock band. The game play is very similar and if you have played the originals you will master this one in no time. The sound gets annoying after a while, the music is not bad but the whistle at the end of every play is loud and obnoxious, I would suggest turning it off, this is one of the only bad things about this game. You can use the DS wifi to go and play with people online, though I haven't done this yet, I would figure this will be what keeps you turned on to this game after you beat the game four or five times. I would say this is a great game that will bring the younger generation in to the Tecmo football world that weren't around for the original games. Overall I give it a nine and a half out of ten. I would rank this all time as being just behind TSB for NES and TSB for SNES and ahead of the other Tecmo Bowl games. Excellent graphics and gameplay, if you have a DS please do yourself a favor and get this game!!!! |

Thanks for the review, Omcet.
I might consider it. I'd still have to buy the Nintendo DS though. |

I am in week thirteen now and I just finished a game. I am 13-0 of course. I am starting to miss the fact that the original had real players, even when I play today knowing that almost all of them are retired, I like the fact that they were real players based off of the 1990 season. One thing that I have noticed is that alot of the computer players don't play a lot different from each other. What I mean is they all have similar stats. There is no huge difference in the game between the worst players and the best players like there were in TSB for the nes. There is no David Fulcher and Andre Waters Difference at safety like TSB, more like the difference between Blair Thomas and Mike Rozier or something at RB, not a huge difference though this could be fixed by editing all of the teams stats but that will take a while and I am lazy. Anyways it still is a great game and I reccomend it, just thought you would all like the update. |

Yeah my best friend has NES TSB, SNES TSB, TSB II and TSB III for the Sega and now even Playstation TSB but he won't even consider Tecmo Bowl Kickoff because there are no real players.

Yeah that's the one problem I had with TSB II and TSB III. The players were a lot more homogenized as compared to NES TSB. Even SNES TSB, I noticed the players were a lot more closer in talent than in NES TSB. At least it seemed that way. |

Yes, that is the language I was looking for, thank you. I like the way TSB on NES did it a lot more. |
